Catch some Zzzzzzzzzzzs Pleaze!

It's really tough to get sleep this time of year with prom, APs, ACTs, and everything else going on in your busy life. But make the time to catch up on some sleep. Not only will it reduce those bags under your eyes, but it could also save your life! The National Sleep Foundation recently put out a study saying that 18 hours without sleep is the equivalent of being legally drunk! 60% of Americans have driven while feeling sleepy and 37% admit to actually having fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year! So, make sure you "crash" on your bed, not on the road.

Community outreach is fun!

SADD recently put up posters all around our community. Not only was this a great way to get the word out about safe driving, but it was fun! Check out some of the highlights below...and watch out for our signs!

*Signs are now in Spanish too!

Cars on, Cells off!

We kicked off our cell phone campaign this week. Everyone at Sibley, don't forget to stop by the SADD table at lunch on Friday to get more information on our project, grab a "Driving it Home" button and some candy with an alert-driving message. Plus, you can turn in your trivia answers for some great prizes (itunes gift card, anyone?) Reminder: the question is What do teens say is their number one driving distraction?

Hint: look at the last post/poster :)

Did you know?

While teens acknowledge texting and driving is very distracting, 46% of teens admit to such behavior. Not only do teens say that texting is their greatest distraction while driving, but it has tangible costs! Text-messaging while driving is becoming as dangerous as drinking and driving, in terms of inhibiting a teen’s driving abilities. It has become such a problem that if you are caught texting while driving you can receive a fine of up to $300!!!
