Although this is our final official Act Out Loud video, it is by no means the end of our project. Help us sustain our efforts and outreach by voting for Henry Sibley SADD at actoutloud.org, every day from May 11 - 22.
Look back at our first post -- where our project began with a presentation to students and parents about the importance of alert driving -- to our final posts featuring our PSAs through the mock car crash.
We want to give special thanks to those who covered us in the Media -- especially the Southwest Review and Town Square TV, who did a special segment on our programs. Our "Crash Here" PSA recently got accepted to a film festival; now more people can hear this important message! And a thank you also goes out to Representative Rick Hansen who has supported our program and helped spread the message to his constituents.
Thanks to the many students in and out of SADD who were involved in the making of the PSAs and helping us get the word out (making T-shirts, business cards, buttons...)
Oh and one more - thank YOU for taking the time to follow our blog and support our message!

Safe Driving Rap - the Real Deal
Here is the guy who started it all - the creator of the safe driving rap we've all had stuck in our heads!

Driving it Home!
Thanks to all the people who have helped SADD drive the safe driving message home! A special thanks goes out to Luis, a freshman, who wrote a safe driving rap for the school assembly. His popular lyrics can be heard throughout the halls -- the real deal will be online soon... :)

Mock Car Crash
In an all-school/community mock car crash, SADD helped drive home the message of responsible driving. Decisions to party-hard on prom night do not just impact those who chose to drink, they impact everyone. Don't become another drunk driving statistic - drive responsibly.
Thank you to everyone who made this mock car crash possible!

Catch some Zzzzzzzzzzzs Pleaze!
It's really tough to get sleep this time of year with prom, APs, ACTs, and everything else going on in your busy life. But make the time to catch up on some sleep. Not only will it reduce those bags under your eyes, but it could also save your life! The National Sleep Foundation recently put out a study saying that 18 hours without sleep is the equivalent of being legally drunk! 60% of Americans have driven while feeling sleepy and 37% admit to actually having fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year! So, make sure you "crash" on your bed, not on the road.

Cars on, Cells off!
We kicked off our cell phone campaign this week. Everyone at Sibley, don't forget to stop by the SADD table at lunch on Friday to get more information on our project, grab a "Driving it Home" button and some candy with an alert-driving message. Plus, you can turn in your trivia answers for some great prizes (itunes gift card, anyone?) Reminder: the question is What do teens say is their number one driving distraction?
Hint: look at the last post/poster :)

Did you know?
While teens acknowledge texting and driving is very distracting, 46% of teens admit to such behavior. Not only do teens say that texting is their greatest distraction while driving, but it has tangible costs! Text-messaging while driving is becoming as dangerous as drinking and driving, in terms of inhibiting a teen’s driving abilities. It has become such a problem that if you are caught texting while driving you can receive a fine of up to $300!!!

SADD Reaches Out
Hello! Although summer is one of the deadliest times for teen driving, March can be a dangerous time too. We wanted to get the message of alert driving out to the community, so we had an officer come to Henry Sibley. Every student at our school watched a movie showing tangible effects of inattentive driving, and we offered an additional screening for parents. Overall, we got very positive feedback and wanted to share the message with you. Check out some of the highlights...
